Premium Quality Hunting Knife, Bertalan Farkas Model 06

⏱ Made to order – lead time: 4–6 weeks

The Model 06 hunting knife is recommended for those who desire a knife with a specifically long, thin blade. It is a versatile knife that fits comfortably in the hand.

The maker, Bertalan Farkas

Bertalan Farkas began mastering the professional basics of knifemaking back in the 70s and opened his own business in the early 90s, meaning he has been actively crafting hunting knives by hand for over 40 years. His hunting knives combine decades of knowledge and experience, and as a result, he can count thousands of sold hunting knives and satisfied customers to his name.

Bertalan Farkas is a hunter himself, so he is fully aware of what a hunter needs when it comes to a good hunting knife. He typically carries his own knives on his hunts, testing them actively in real-world conditions.

Features of the hunting knives:

  • 100% handmade hunting knife, made from selected quality materials.
  • The main characteristic of Bertalan Farkas hunting knives is high functionality; their design fully satisfies the needs of hunters.
  • The heart of the hunting knives is the N-695 German Krupp steel, which undergoes heat treatment to achieve a guaranteed 59-60 HRC hardness. Bertalan Farkas cuts the desired knife shape from the steel plate himself, and grinds, tempers, and sharpens them by hand. Every shape is his own design. The hunting knife's edge is ground to a razor edge. The knives are remarkably sharp.
  • Customizable handle material: The handles of the hunting knives are made from quality genuine stag antler or tropical hardwood as requested. Handle materials can be selected based on preference. Some handle materials are available at an extra charge.
  • The hunting knives come with high-quality, also handmade genuine cowhide sheaths in a design appropriate to the model. (Included in the indicated price.) The leather sheaths are also artisanal masterpieces handmade by Bertalan Farkas; he cuts and sews them himself.
  • Customizable bolster material: bronze or stainless steel. Stainless steel is available at an extra charge.

Hunting knife engraving (extra charge service):

The engraving is done by Bertalan Farkas traditionally by hand with a chisel. Hunting knife engraving can be requested for an additional fee.

Only monograms and numbers can be requested; the master does not undertake full names or words.

It contains the initials of the last and first name, a maximum of 2-3 letters. The Hungarian digraphs (Sz, Cs, Gy, Ty, etc.) count as one letter; please put a period after each letter. E.g.: A.B.C., Sz. T., K. Cs., etc.

Engraving options:

  • In the top picture: Monogram + oak leaf decoration
  • In the bottom picture: Monogram without decoration

Engraving a number on the other side of the blade: It contains 1 number, e.g., 40, 2023, etc. We recommend it for birthdays or anniversaries.

If you would like monogram and/or number engraving, please select one of the options from the "Monogram engraving" and/or "Engraving on the other side of the blade" dropdown menu when placing your order, and enter the appropriate details in the fields that appear.

Handle materials

Stag antler handle material

One of the most popular hunting knife handle materials is made from the antlers of a red deer stag. We only use selected, top-quality stag antler as handle material. The result is very beautiful, with a contrasting, rough texture characteristic of antler.

Burl thuya handle material

Moroccan thuya burl is a rare, beautifully patterned wood native to North Africa; its beautiful rare wood has been praised for thousands of years, and its oil is used for various rituals. The most beautiful part of the tree is not in the trunk, but in the burls on the roots; we also make hunting knife handles from this. It is characterized by a beautiful reddish-brown color and a speckled, swirly pattern with a pleasant scent.

Optional decorative rivets for wooden handles (extra charge service)

Decorative metal rivets can be selected for wooden handle materials upon request. (Unfortunately, this is not possible for stag antler handles, as the surface of the antler is rough and the rivet cannot be inserted neatly.)

The decorative rivets are made of metal, from an alloy matching their color, and black or colored resin. There are both animal-themed and geometric rivets.

The plain (geometric) rivets may differ slightly in appearance from those in the photo.

We also offer very beautiful animal and other motif decorative rivets. The most popular motifs are stag, wild boar, and vizsla. These rivets are 8-10 mm in diameter. They are placed into the hunting knife handles in the following arrangement: 1 pair of figurative rivets with 2 pairs of plain (geometric) rivets.

If you would like to take advantage of this option, you can select the appropriate choice in the "Decorative rivet in the handle" option above. Current prices for the rivets can be found in the same menu.

We offer several types of decorative rivets, which can be selected upon request after choosing the wooden handle material.

Why do I have to wait so long for a hunting knife?

A very large proportion of Bertalan Farkas hunting knives are made after ordering, so because we receive many orders, you should unfortunately expect a waiting time of a few weeks.

Engraved hunting knives can only be made after ordering, because the engraving must be done before the blade is heat-treated, as it can still be engraved in this state. After heat treatment, it is too hard to be engraved by hand.

Important information about custom designs

Every Bertalan Farkas hunting knife is custom-made. The color, grain, pattern, and shape of the natural materials used—such as antler and wood—may vary from piece to piece, so no two knives are exactly the same.

The product photos illustrate the nature and possible design of the given model. The individual selectable details shown in the pictures—such as rivets, decorations, or engravings—may differ from your chosen version. When ordering, we always craft the knife based on the individual choices specified on the product page.

The unique appearance of natural materials is not a defect, but a characteristic of every completed piece.
