Premium quality hunting knife, Bertalan Farkas model 11
⏱ Made to order – lead time: 4–6 weeks
The No. 11 hunting knife is one of our most popular models. It is an excellent small, all-purpose hunting knife. We recommend it to those who are looking for a smaller but very ergonomic piece that can handle every hunting task.
The maker, Bertalan Farkas
Bertalan Farkas began learning the professional basics of knifemaking in the 70s and opened his own business in the early 90s, meaning he has been actively handcrafting hunting knives in small quantities for over 40 years. His hunting knives combine decades of knowledge and experience, resulting in thousands of hunting knives sold and many satisfied customers.
Bertalan Farkas is a hunter himself, so he is fully aware of what a hunter needs when it comes to a good hunting knife. He typically carries his own knife on his hunts, actively testing them in real-world conditions.
Features of the hunting knives:
- 100% handmade hunting knife made from selected quality materials.
- The main characteristic of Bertalan Farkas hunting knives is their high functionality; their design fully meets the needs of hunters.
- The soul of the hunting knives is the N-695 German Krupp steel, which undergoes heat treatment to achieve a guaranteed 59-60 HRC hardness. Bertalan Farkas cuts the desired knife shape from the steel plate himself, and performs the grinding, hardening, and sharpening himself. Every shape is his own design. The edge profile of the hunting knife is razor-sharp. These knives are remarkably sharp.
- Customizable handle material: The handles of the hunting knives are made of high-quality genuine deer antler or tropical hardwood, as requested. Handle materials can be selected according to preference. Some handle materials are available for an extra charge.
- The hunting knives come with high-quality, also handmade genuine cowhide leather sheaths in a design appropriate for the model. (Included in the indicated price.) The leather sheaths are also handcrafted masterpieces by Bertalan Farkas; he cuts and sews them himself.
- Customizable bolster material: bronze or stainless steel. Stainless steel is available for an extra charge.
Hunting knife engraving (paid service):
The engraving is done by Bertalan Farkas using traditional hand chisels. Hunting knife engraving can be requested for an extra charge.
Only initials and numbers can be requested; the master does not undertake full names or words.
It includes the initials of the last and first name, maximum 2-3 letters. Sz, Cs, Gy, Ty, etc. count as one letter; please place a period after the letters. E.g.: A.B.C., Sz. T., K. Cs., etc.
Engraving options:
- Top image: Monogram + oak leaf decoration
- Bottom image: Monogram without decoration

Engraving a number on the other side of the blade: Includes 1 number, e.g., 40, 2023, etc. We recommend it for birthdays and anniversaries.
If you would like to have a monogram and/or number engraved, select one of the options from the "Monogram engraving" and/or "Engraving on the other side of the blade" dropdown menu when placing your order, and enter the appropriate details in the fields that appear.
Handle materials
Deer antler handle material
One of the most popular hunting knife handle materials is made from the antler of a red stag. We use only selected, top-quality deer antler as handle material. The result is very beautiful, with a contrasting, rugged texture characteristic of antlers.
Burl thuja handle material
Moroccan burl thuja is a rare, beautifully patterned wood native to North Africa; its beautiful, rare wood has been praised for millennia, and its oil is used for various rituals. The most beautiful part of the tree is not in the trunk, but in the burls on the root system, and we make these knife handles from this. It is characterized by a beautiful reddish-brown color and a spotted, wrinkled pattern with a pleasant scent.
Optional decorative rivet for wood handles (paid service)
Metal decorative rivets can be selected for wood handle materials upon request. (Unfortunately, this is not possible for deer antler handles, as the surface of the antler is rugged and the rivet cannot be inserted neatly.)
The decorative rivets are made of metal in an alloy corresponding to their color, and black or colored resin. There are also animal and geometric rivets.
The plain (geometric) rivets may differ slightly in appearance from those in the photo.

We also offer very beautiful decorative rivets with animals and other motifs. The most popular motifs are deer, wild boar, and vizsla. These rivets have a diameter of 8-10 mm. They are placed in the handles of the hunting knives in the following combination: 1 pair of figurative rivets with 2 pairs of plain (geometric) rivets.

If you would like to take advantage of this option, you can select the appropriate choice in the "Decorative rivet in the handle" option above. The current prices for the rivets can be found in the same menu.
We offer several types of decorative rivets, which can be selected upon request after choosing the wood handle material.
Why do I have to wait so long for a hunting knife?
The vast majority of Bertalan Farkas hunting knives are made after an order is placed. Because we receive many orders, unfortunately, you should expect a waiting time of a few weeks.
Engraved hunting knives can only be made after an order is placed, because the engraving must be done before the blade is heat-treated, as it is still engravable in this state. After heat treatment, it is too hard for manual engraving.
