Premium Quality Hunting Knife Bertalan Farkas Model 11 - MINI

⏱ Made to order – lead time: 4–6 weeks

The MINI, a proportionally smaller version of the 11 knife model, is now available! The popular 11 knife can now be ordered with a total length of only 16 cm. This is a truly captivating little hunting knife that, despite its size, fits perfectly in the palm and is just as capable of performing the tasks a hunting knife is expected to handle!

The Maker, Bertalan Farkas

Bertalan Farkas began mastering the professional basics of knifemaking in the 70s and opened his own business in the early 90s, meaning he has been actively handcrafting hunting knives in small quantities for over 40 years. His hunting knives combine decades of knowledge and experience, resulting in thousands of hunting knives sold and many satisfied customers.

Bertalan Farkas is a hunter himself, so he is fully aware of what a hunter needs when it comes to a good hunting knife. He typically carries his own knives on his hunts, actively testing them in real-world conditions.

Features of the hunting knives:

  • 100% handmade hunting knife, made from selected quality materials.
  • The main characteristic of Bertalan Farkas hunting knives is high functionality; accordingly, their design fully meets the needs of hunters.
  • The soul of the hunting knives is the N-695 German Krupp steel, which undergoes heat treatment to achieve a guaranteed 59-60 HRC hardness. Bertalan Farkas personally cuts the desired knife shape from the steel sheet, grinds, tempers, and sharpens them himself. Every shape is his own design. The edge profile of the hunting knife is razor-sharp. The knives are remarkably sharp.
  • Choice of handle material: The handles of the hunting knives are made from quality genuine deer antler or tropical hardwood, as requested. Handle materials can be selected according to preference. Some handle materials are available for an extra charge.
  • The hunting knives come with excellent quality, also handmade, genuine cowhide leather sheaths in designs appropriate for the models. (Included in the listed price.) The leather sheaths are also handmade artisan masterpieces by Bertalan Farkas; he cuts and sews them himself.
  • Choice of bolster material: bronze or stainless steel. Stainless steel is available for an extra charge.

Hunting knife engraving (paid service):

The engraving is done traditionally by hand by Bertalan Farkas using a chisel. Hunting knife engraving can be requested for an extra charge.

Only initials and numbers can be requested; the master does not undertake engraving full names or words.

It includes the initials of the last and first name, maximum 2-3 letters. The Hungarian digraphs (Sz, Cs, Gy, Ty, etc.) count as one letter; please place a dot after the letters. E.g.: A.B.C., Sz. T., K. Cs. etc.

Engraving options:

  • Top image: Monogram + oak leaf decoration
  • Bottom image: Monogram without decoration

Engraving a number on the other side of the blade: Includes 1 number, e.g., 40, 2023, etc. We recommend this for birthdays, anniversaries.

If you would like monogram and/or number engraving, select one of the options from the "Monogram engraving" and/or "Engraving on the other side of the blade" dropdown menu when placing your order, and enter the appropriate details in the fields that appear.

Handle materials

Deer antler handle material

One of the most popular hunting knife handle materials is made from the antlers of a red stag. We only use selected, highest-quality deer antler as handle material. The result is very beautiful, with a contrasting, rugged texture characteristic of antlers.

Thuya burl handle material

Moroccan thuya burl is a rare, beautifully patterned wood native to North Africa; its beautiful rare wood has been praised for millennia, and its oil is used for various rituals. The most beautiful part of the tree is not in the trunk but in the burls on the roots; we make the hunting knife handles from this as well. It is characterized by a beautiful reddish-brown color and a dotted, swirly pattern with a pleasant scent.

Optional decorative rivets for wood handles (paid service)

For wood handle materials, metal decorative rivets can be chosen upon request. (Unfortunately, this is not possible for deer antler handles, as the surface of the antler is rugged and the rivet cannot be inserted neatly.)

The decorative rivets are made of metal, from an alloy matching their color, and black or colored resin. There are also animal-themed and geometric rivets.

The plain (geometric) rivets may differ slightly in appearance from those in the photo.

We also offer very beautiful animal and other motif decorative rivets. The most popular motifs are deer, wild boar, and vizsla. These rivets are 8-10 mm in diameter. They are placed in the handles of the hunting knives in the following arrangement: 1 pair of figurative rivets with 2 pairs of plain (geometric) rivets.

If you wish to take advantage of this option, you can select the appropriate choice under the "Decorative rivet in the handle" option above. The current prices for the rivets can be found in the same menu.

We offer several types of decorative rivets, which can be selected upon request after choosing the wood handle material.

Why do I have to wait so long for a hunting knife?

The vast majority of Bertalan Farkas hunting knives are made after an order is placed; since we receive many orders, unfortunately, you must expect a waiting time of a few weeks.

We can only produce engraved hunting knives after an order is placed, as the engraving must be done before the blade is heat-treated, as it is still engravable in this state. After heat treatment, it is too hard for the engraving to be done by hand.

Important information about the custom design

Every Bertalan Farkas hunting knife is made individually. The color, grain, pattern, and shape of the natural materials used – such as antler and wood – may vary from piece to piece, which is why no two knives are exactly the same.

The product photos illustrate the nature and possible design of the given model. Certain optional details seen in the pictures – such as rivets, decorations, or engravings – may differ from the chosen version. When ordering, we always craft the knife based on the individual choices provided on the product page.

The unique appearance of natural materials is not a defect, but a characteristic of every finished piece.
